How to Update Shareholder KYC

What KYC details holders of physical shares need to register with the RTA, and how to complete them.

What KYC covers

  • PAN
  • Nomination (or a declaration opting out)
  • Postal address and contact details
  • Bank account details
  • Specimen signature

How to update

  1. Identify the RTA for each company where you hold physical shares.
  2. Download the RTA's current forms (ISR-1 and related forms).
  3. Complete and sign; add documents the form lists.
  4. Submit as the RTA permits and keep proof of submission.
  5. Follow up for written confirmation.

Why do it

Complete KYC helps dividends reach you, and avoids holdups when you later request dematerialisation, duplicate certificates or transmission.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to do this for every company?
KYC is maintained by each company's RTA, so it must be completed for each folio unless the RTA allows linking.
