Where delay usually arises
- Company verification. The company's Nodal Officer must verify the claim; this stage is widely reported as the main bottleneck.
- Mismatched details. Name, folio, signature or share numbers that differ from records.
- Incomplete documents. Missing certificates, unclear copies or wrong formats.
- Queries. Each round of queries restarts part of the process.
- Credit to demat. Demat account details that do not match the claimant.
What you can do
- Check every detail before you file.
- Send documents by trackable post and keep proof.
- Follow up with the Nodal Officer, quoting the SRN.
- Answer queries fully and promptly.
Be realistic
Nobody controls the company's or the authority's timetable. Be wary of anyone who guarantees a date.
Frequently asked questions
Shares approved but not credited — why?
Common reasons include demat details that do not match the claimant, or a delay in the final credit process. Contact the Nodal Officer or the IEPF Authority with your SRN.
