Do not panic
The company's register of members still records you as the holder. A lost certificate means you need to ask the company, through its RTA, to issue duplicate securities.
The current process in outline
- Make sure you have a demat account in the correct names.
- Get a recent Client Master List, attested by your DP and not more than two months old.
- Prepare Form ISR-4 and the affidavit-cum-indemnity (value above ₹10,000) or undertaking (up to ₹10,000).
- Submit the set to the RTA.
- The RTA processes and arranges direct credit to your demat account, and informs you.
What changed
Earlier, RTAs issued a Letter of Confirmation which the holder had to take to a DP. SEBI's circular of 30 January 2026 removed the LOC for specified service requests and provides for direct credit, within 30 days of receipt of a complete request. It came into force on 2 April 2026.
