Why it matters
The RTA maintains the register of members and handles most service requests. A request to the wrong RTA wastes time.
Where to look
- The company's website — the Investors or Shareholder Information section.
- Annual reports and corporate-governance filings on the stock exchanges.
- Dividend and corporate-action notices.
- Old certificates (to identify the earlier RTA), then check for later changes.
Remember
RTAs change. A company may move to a new RTA, or the RTA may merge or rename. Always rely on the company's current disclosures rather than the name printed on an old certificate.
