There is no single universal list
Documents depend on who is claiming, how the shares were held, and the value and history of the claim. A living original holder with a demat-ready holding has a shorter list than a legal heir claiming old physical shares.
The usual building blocks
- Identity and PAN of the claimant
- Demat account details for credit of shares
- Bank account details and supporting proof of the account
- Original share certificates, where shares were held in physical form
- Death certificate and legal-heir or succession documents, where the holder has died
- Indemnity, affidavit and NOC documents where the current instructions require them
